Make the world your gameboard

CATAN - World Explorers is a massively multiplayer augmented reality game based on the board game, The Settlers of Catan. This adventure game was created by Niantic, Inc. who also created Pokémon GO and Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. The goal of this game is to harvest, trade, and build in the physical world as buildings and landmarks transform into settlements. You will need to collect resources and construct buildings to score points for your Faction.

How is Catan played?

CATAN - World Explorers follows the same premise as the original Catan game. Every player will begin as a settler who’s attempting to build and develop holdings. You will need to constantly trade with other players to acquire the resources you need. Things like lumber, brick, wool, grain, and ore can come from anywhere in your neighborhood. The availability of these will vary from place to place so it's important that you befriend others and do trading.

Points will be granted to you when your settlement starts to grow into a bustling metropolis. In the board game, the first player to score ten points wins but this is not the case with the mobile version. Winners or seasonal champions will be announced on a predetermined date. You will need to team up with other players to strategically gather materials, expand your settlements, and race for Victory Points.

This is an important factor that will contribute to your Faction’s Global Score. As the highest-scoring member of the Faction, you will be declared the season’s champion. The points and rewards you will earn are your personal Local Game only, and cannot be accessed by the other members of the Faction.
